Historic Snowstorm Hitting Gulf States

A once-in-a-lifetime snowstorm will slam the Gulf Coast states Tuesday producing the highest snowfall seen since the 1960s.

In Lake Charles, Louisiana, the National Weather Service issued its first-ever blizzard warning for wind gusts and intense snowfall. State officials are asking residents to prepare for long-lasting cold and to avoid travel across much of the I-10 corridor where as much as six inches of snow may fall.

The city of New Orleans may see nearly four inches of snow, the most since 1963. If Houston gets the predicted four inches of snow, it would be the biggest snowfall since February 1960.
