“Days of Our Lives” actor Francisco San Martin died by suicide, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, the Independent reported. He was 39.

San Martin, born in Mallorca, Spain, grew up in Montana, the New York Post reported. He began his acting career in children’s theater, later trying his hand at modeling after his family moved back to Spain. He was cast in minor roles in several Spanish plays and TV shows before moving back to the U.S., where he rose to prominence after appearing in “Days of Our Lives” in 2011 for six months. 

In the show, San Martin played the role of Dario Hernandez, a petty thief who comes to Salem to investigate a cold case. San Martin later left the show for a role in Argentina, and the character was recast with Jordi Vilasuso, who played Hernandez from 2016-17.
